A little something different today

I saw a sketch on another website (I can't remember exactly where, but if I find it again, I will come back to give the correct credit due) and her card had the same layout since we were both following the same sketch. I love the newsprint DSP, I am thinking that it would look great on a Christmas card....don't you agree?????

Big Shot Christmas Card

What a BUSY weekend it was....Not even a few spare minutes to stamp!

I did manage to get this sample done before I left for work because this card was fairly easy to do with my Big Shot. It really took longer to design it then make it. I have a Cricut but I haven't used it very much since I broke down and bought the Big Shot. I do love that machine......
So, what do you think of this card????

1st Sample...What do you think?

As promised, this is my 1st sample of possible choices. It was an easy card to put together so it lends itself well to a mass production. It's not my usual Christmas card, I am a glitter (actually, anything shiny) kind of girl. I think I am going to that style tomorrow just for some variety in my choices. Let me know what you think.

Distressed Title Page

I used our new stencil to apply White craft ink and then Iridescent Ice to emboss the stenciled image
I used Soft Suede and black ink to distress the edge of the name definition. I then added 3 of our rhinestones.....To give it a really aged look I sprayed some Silver Smooch spray......LOVE IT!!!!!!

I do not know why Blogger is rotating this picture, it has happened before. So, please be patient and I'll figure this out asap! Thanks!!!

a fast, easy 3x3 Christmas card

I mailed this little card out to some of customers that hadn't received a Holiday mini yet (I did mail a mini also). I love the Holiday stamp set, Bells and Boughs in the Holiday Mini, I have used that set on at least 6 or 7 different Christmas projects along with with the Designer Papers AND the matching FABRIC.....Woo-Hoo!!!
Anyway, for this 3x3 card I used Vanilla, Real Red, and our new Designer Series cardstock along with Versa Mark, Real Red and Black ink. I stamped the Holly image with Versa Mark and then the greeting in black on top of it. I used the ribbon punch and our big label punch to finish up the card. Easy, peasy......

Are You Ready for the Holidays???

I can't believe that the Holidays are upon us already! I have started planning my Christmas cards and hand stamped gifts and I can hardly wait to get started on them. I have stamped 6 different Christmas cards so far for my upcoming 1st Annual Christmas Event on Oct. 9 for the first stage of the event and then we'll finish up the event on Oct. 23rd. I plan on having at least a dozen cards for people to come look at on the 9th, then they choose which card(s) they want to make, pay for just those cards and then I will order all the the supplies. Then, on the 23rd of Oct, everyone returns and we spend a couple of hours putting all the cards together....a big stamping party!!! If you are interested in this event, please let me know asap at 303-908-8504 or e-mail me at stampingjackflash1@msn.com.
I haven't even started playing with all of our new stuff, like our new FABRIC!!! The Glitter Brads are a favorite of mine already, nothing like a shiny bling to dress up a card or scrapbook page.
And the new embossing folders and snowflake die for our Big Shot, WOOOO-HOOOOO! Those babies just make you feel like creating a blizzard of projects, they REALLY DO! I will have some precious time tomorrow to play, so I'll be uploading some sneak-peeks tomorrow (I don't plan on showing all of the card, you'll just have to drop by my house on the 9th to see the finished card!!). I hope to see you on the 9th, don't forget to let me know you'll be coming over ; )

Artistic Etchings set is Back Again!

Sorry for not posting anything in a while. Between computer issues and traveling to see my daughter ride in an out of town show....I haven't been able to share anything with you all. I used the Artistic Etching set on this card along with the Vintage Big Shot Embossing folder and our new bling rhinestones! I think it turned out great, I do seem to really love that set. It lends itself well to Vintage to Shabby Chic to, well, whatever you you can imagine. I am working on a Vintage page with this set, using the "resist" technique. It is turning out to be a beautiful layout with the Smootch Spray.....I'll post it asap. In the meantime, Happy Stamping!

This card is WOW in person. I was fortunate enough to see a card made by Alesha Walls and simply fell in love with this card. I used the Elements of Style stamp set and our watercolor pencils and blender pens to do the main image. Then I ran the image part of the card through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing folder and it looks like it's cross-stitched on the card. It was a little time consuming with coloring in the flowers but what a way to relax. It makes me feel like such an artist to color in and then watercolor the images......I am going to design a class all around this technique, it's way too much fun!!!

Surrounded by Red

This once wild Mustang named Rhett, has traveled on an exciting journey with each one of these ladies. As you probably know, my daughter, Amy is in an organization called Westernaires. My niece, Christine (left), Falyn (right) and my daughter, Amy (on Rhett) have all ridden Rhett on their Westernaire teams up to Red Team. Rhett was able to take Christine and Falyn through Red Team and carried Amy to the door of Red Team. The week before his 3rd time through Red Team, Rhett started to limp during a practice run. We immediately took him to the vet. They did the usual x-ray and then had to deliver the news that Rhett has severe arthritis and was not going to finish Red Team with Amy. I am very happy to say that he is still with us today, as beautiful and regal as ever. I know it upsets Rhett when we go get Amy's new horse, Tovin to run Red Team with her. And I can't tell you how much we miss seeing Rhett run, especially in Corkscrew, but we know he's always there with us. I think he's giving Tovin pointers when we're not there because Tovin is starting to run and act quite a bit like our man, Rhett.....

49. And the most important: You get a certain feeling of satisfaction
from
knowing that California and Texas are both downstream.
50. You actually understand these jokes and send them to your Colorado
friends.

I really do love our new stamp set, Notably Ornate. I put this card together using the Big Shot for the polka-dot background, punch for the edge, I did spend a little time cutting out the bird, but all in all, a very easy card. This set lends itself well to black and white contrasting cards. I'm playing with that as we speak, I do wish we had a punch for the more intricate stamps (are you listening, Stampin' Up!???). Since all of our products are designed to coordinate with each other.....
Well, a girl can wish, can't she?

Broken Glass....

This card was made using the "Broken Glass" technique. I took this opportunity to play with one of our newest stencils, some embossing powder, Versa Mark pad and some BLING of course! It was very easy to do and I love the vintage look of this technique. I am totally going to use this on a tag with my next Heritage layout.

"Treasure" Protector

Penny, my personal guard dog
My dog, Penny, loves it when I get a UPS delivery from Stampin' Up! I think she really loves our new Designer Paper and all of the new accessories!!! Or, maybe it's the awesome stamp sets....the clear mounted ones are her favorites. Wait, what is she telling me? NO WAY, she's only in the protecting business for the dog treats from Dan, the UPS man??? Ahhh, good help is SO hard to find. ; )

Well, I FINALLY got my hands on a piece of our "Simply Adorned" line. I ordered the biggest format which is 1 1/2 X 2 inches. While I do like the incredible amount of space to create in, the actual frame is a little large to wear around as a necklace. I think that size is more fitting as a brooch or it would be WONDERFUL as an ornament, either on a Christmas Tree or on a scrapbook page. I am now ordering the next size down, 1 X 1 1/4 inches. I love the new stamp set, Artistic Etchings for decorating these frames. You gotta check the Simply Adorned line, you will Simply LOVE it!

National "Book Lovers Day" is today!

It's the PERFECT time to grab your favorite book and get a little "me" time in! I do love ANYTHING to do with Colorado History, especially Molly Brown and Baby Doe Tabor. Two incredibly strong and dedicated women that helped put Colorado (Denver in particular) on the map!
Also, I don't know how many of you have read "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott, but that is one of my favorite books of all time. It is very similar to the writings of Jane Austen, another one of my favorites. Those books showcase how much slower things were way back then and how people treated and respected each other. I do find it refreshing that a lot of the good qualities are still present in today's society, but sorry that we as a people, have not been able to overcome the class lines that still exist. I truly believe that we are continually evolving and will become a better world with the help of our children and our continued awareness. Here's to a wonderful future!!

I was "Framed"....

Sounds like a newspaper title, so, guess what? I used our new Newsprint Designer Paper to create this beautiful frame and the best part....I only spent 1/2 hour on it, excluding finding the right photos and then printing them. It has a really urban feel to it, but there's a bit of a BoHo feeling to it also . I really like the musical note side along with the other side that features a world map. I have to tell you the picture just doesn't do the frame justice. It is totally WOW in person. By the way, those are photos of my children even though I don't feel old enough to have any that grown up yet. You simply have to check this new paper out!

Something other then a brown card-LOL

I just wanted to show you all that I really do cards that are NOT made with a brown card base. It's funny isn't it? I don't know about anyone else but I tend to use (wear) the same colors all of the time. I am giving myself a challenge to use a new color for the next 10 projects I do....I wish I could promise that with my clothes selection, but I just don't see that happening. That said, I do love these new colors of ours. And the stamps and accessories......WOO-HOO! If I could just find a way to incorporate those colors and goodies into my wardrobe, well, I'll be working on that. I used the "Presto" Designer Paper with chalks on this card and our new lace ribbon and a punch, of course!

Ice Cream Social was Yummy!

Thanks to all that dropped by! I was so happy to see the variations on the original make & take. It's always amazing to see how many different cards can come out of one template design. I am posting the original make & take for all to see, so feel free to CASE as you see fit.  I can see that I need to brush up on my photography skills when trying to capture the beauty of a card with bling. I used markers to color the flowers and stems, rhinestones for bling and, punches of course!  I also had a selection of samples using our new Newsprint Designer Series Paper....LOVE that paper! I'll be posting more of those pictures later. See you all soon! **I just realized that I use a lot of brown.....gotta change that up, especially since I have SO MANY new colors to choose from.

Computer Issues.....but it's finally here!

I finally am able to upload my card using our newest colors and Hostess Only set. (My computer is so slow I could run a marathon while it phases from one screen to another) However, I think this card turned out very well, I love the new colors! I used the Marina Mist, Soft Suede, Wild Wasabi, Early Espresso ink and our new Rhinestones! The Big Shot embossing folders make it SOOOO easy to add a touch of texture and of course, punches. I did spend some time hand cutting the flower out, probably not something I'd do too often. This card came together fairly fast, even with the extra cutting. I am going to devote some time to using our new Color Coach and trying some new color combos, I do tend to stick with the same schemes over & over. I do think the Early Espresso and Soft Suede are going to be my two new favorites, they really bring out the best in the other colors. You'll have to let me know what you're new favs are. Don't forget to stop by on the 17th of this month between 6-9 pm for a big Ice Cream Social event and check out the new colors for yourself.
I hope you come back to visit soon.

"Presto" Designer Series Paper card

I made this card for my brother-in-law today using the new "Presto" paper....I LOVE that paper!!!
I sponged the Presto paper with Wild Wasabi and then spayed it with Vanilla Smooch spray, I did use a retired set because he is very into antique cars (not the really cool motorcycle stamp we have now). The spray just makes it shine, a wonderful touch that doesn't overwhelm the look of the card. I am going to use this technique in my "Presto" Paper class scheduled in July, it is such a WOW effect.

Celebrate!!!

Well, on Thursday night our daughter graduated from high school....where did the time go? She is a very focused young lady that knows what she wants and is willing to work hard for it. She is amazing!

Big Shot cards, working with fabric

My last Big Shot class was so much fun! We did 3 cards using denim, cork, and some bling and these are the results. The cards are very elegant in person, simple but really gets the "wow's" flowing. I just love the embossing folders for the Big Shot, they are a great addition to our Brass Templates for dry embossing. I can hardly wait to see the new Idea Book and Catalog in July!!! I bet they have some awesome new Big Shot toys!

Designer Series Paper---It doesn't get better then this!

I just got this new Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! of course! It's amazing. It comes in all white with the designs built right into them. You can use the brayer, sponges, sprays, well, tons of ways to make this paper totally your own. I actually saw this paper used on the Stampin' Up! Website by the talented Lauri Ingram (on the Demonstrator side) that was also used in a Heritage layout. That layout was done in browns, gold and greens; it was beautiful.
My layout is of our Grandmother, Delores. She was a colorful woman so I thought a colorful background was appropriate. I also misted this layout with our new Smooch Spray (available in out Summer Mini Catalog), it adds a bit of bling without detracting from the picture. I hope that you can see the detail of the flourishes in the paper, it is so elegant. The paper is so versatile too, it makes great cards and home decor.....I think I'm formulating a new class as I speak. You'll want to check my website at www.jackiehoward.stampinup.net to see what I've come up with.

A Tribute to my best friend, Rowdy

My boy, Rowdy, was a 19 year old Gray Mustang who totally lived up to his name. He originally was owned by my sister Kay and her husband Frank Yates. So, Rowdy was actually named for the character, Rowdy Yates from the TV show, Rawhide (Clint Eastwood's part). My boy was incredibly smart (he would open the trailer door to let the other mustang, Rhett, out), he was sweet and loving (mostly to me and my daughter Amy), and he was my very best friend. He left me yesterday, he was called up to Heaven suddenly. I am going to miss him so much. With that, I would like to dedicate my blog to Rowdy boy.

Welcome Friends!!

Welcome to my blog! I am looking forward to sharing ideas, discussing techniques, posting my creations and giving you sneak peeks of upcoming class projects. I love getting together in person, but I realize that's not always possible so it will be great to have you visit me 24/7 in the blog world. So, I do hope you come back and see me often.
